
Propelled Vehicle
The purpose: To construct a vehicle that will move forward on its own power.
The directions: To design a vehicle that will begin at rest. I designed to make a ball and put the vehicle on it.
First, I decided to make a balloon and on top put a glue(plasticine) for kids, so I can pope the ball later and the shape will stay after the glue will get strong. It was hard to make a glue not crack and I put another layer and covered it with a wire and again another layer of glue. I tried to make it more round but I failed, it went only 3m per 3sec. It was not perfect and I decided to put 3 disks -- vehicles. So my structure was look like a caret at the end. And it pass 5 m and the result was 6.5m per 5.12sec.
For my 2nd trail, I decided to make a vehicle and a ramp made of cardboard, so that the structure would be on the pressure to move faster. My wheels were a 3CD's. I put a lot of glue...
And it worked perfect and looked like a coach. It passed and was looking pretty =)
When I tested my design, the structure went 6.5m. The structure took 5.12 seconds to get there. We were able to achieve the two design challenged, and I made it a lit bit different then others because I made a ball, I built our original structure, JUST A BALL went only 3 meters.
7 Questions :
1 - My original design was making a ball out of the beach ball and put the golf ball inside,so the structure can roll faster than usual.
2 - I changed my mind and add the vehicles because it was so hard to find a beach ball and to make the ball was not that good that i expected.
3 - I add 3 CD discs to make my ball go forward and it worked well!
4 - My final was good I pass the line and it was around 6 m, also my model looks like a coach
5 - It was 6 m but my previous one was around 1 m
6 - My vehicle was good in design and structure, good rolling discs and good speed to pass 6 m in 3sec
7 - I want to make the vehicle more thicker and add a good trap so the vehicle can roll down with a crazy speed
For next time, I would like to make the ball more round so I can just push it and it can run forever.
