The purpose of this project:

To try to protect an egg from breaking by building a structure around it.

 

 

Directions:

- only use 12 sheets of paper

- 50 cm of masking tape to build a structure that could protect an egg.

 

 

 

Trial #1

 

 

Q: How did the structure perform according to the test goals?

 

A: The squashed structure smushed and we decided to make

it different 

 

Q: What changes would you recommend to improve future

design? 

 

A: We decided to change the structure to add a columns,

 which help weigh to fall on this spirals.

 

 

 

 

 

Trial #2

 

Q: How did the structure perform according to the test goals?

 

A: We created the same cube but add 4 cylinders or a spirals, which contained strong paper in the corners of the cube. When we tested the structure, it smushed a little but the egg too because our columns or cylinders were too short and we were not sure if the egg would be fine. 

 

 Q: What changes would you recommend to improve

future design? 

 

A: We decided to do the same thing that we did in the trail #2

but make cylinders in the cornes higher that before,

 so that the egg does not crack. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Trial #3 

Q: How did the structure perform according to the test goals?

 

A: The structure performed well. We survived but without clear tape it's not going to work.

 

Q: What changes would you recommend to improve future design? 

 

A: We decided that the structure was fine as it was, only one thing is that for this design we should use only clear tape!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

- The most difficult part of this project was that we missunderstood that the real test was only on the special day and we tried tested it before, and we made it! But failed on the real one. 

- My favorite design was the cylinder shaped structure because cylinders are strong.

- Our trials indicated that an egg would crush because we did our 2nd try with paper tape which did not helpus at all. Structures smushed but we made it with the clear tape 2 books were thrown onto them and it survived.

- Our egg survived because the weight literally bounced off of the strcture because of cylinders.

- If I were to design differently to make the structure better, I would not add somthing I would like to leave it like that but use more clear tape that's it.

- I really enjoyed doing this project it was fun :)
